Craft Room Changes

I've been on the losing end of a battle of trying to keep a clean and organized craft room for some time now. Issues include a tiny room, lack of storage, and maybe, just maybe, too much stuff.

So, I worked for two days moving in furniture, moving out furniture, throwing stuff away, donating things, organizing and finding a place for everything.

I must say, I love the end result!! And just so you too can witness the huge improvement, here are some before pictures of what I was dealing with.

*Warning! Lots of pictures!*

 See! It's bad! REALLY bad!!

And here, my friends, is the after!!!!!!
Sigh! So much better!! I can finally see my paint splattered floor again!
(Note to self - invest in a drop cloth)

This is my favorite little area in the room!

Could anything be better than white linens in an ironstone bowl?

I think a jar filled with vintage lace gives that bowl filled with linens a run for it's money!

Let's see how long I can actually keep it this way! ;)

  1. Great job girl!! Ok what kind of camera do you use? I only have my iphone. I got an Olympus for Christmas but I'm not loving it...

  2. I can totally identify with the first picture. My workspace desk was looking like yours this week.

I love what you did to organize. I have got to get myself a crib spring (is that what it is called?) for hanging things. Your displays are great!

  3. My craft room is completely unusable because it's so full of stuff. You did an amazing job of organizing and it's no wonder you love the dresser area with all it's pretty displays!

  4. Your simple collections have been elevated to new heights and look amazing! Oh, how I WISH I had the space in my home to dedicate to just ME> Too often, I'm spreadin' out on the dining room table...and stayin' there.

  7. Love it! I'm visiting over from Get Schooled Saturday. I can completely relate with your 'before' situation. I will say though, that even having a bigger room doesn't necessarily mean it will be less cluttered! :) Mine is a perfect example! I'm completely inspired by the fact that you were able to transform it in just two days. It gives me hope for my own! I love the color on the walls and all the vintage goodies you have on display. What person wouldn't feel inspired to create in there, painted floors or no. ;) Have a great weekend!

  10. Your craft room is beautiful. Love the way you use a mix of storage elements in the room. Keeps it very interesting and fun. I love that dresser...awesomeness!

I am dying to get started on my small craft room. It has many flaws, oops challenges including a ugh floral green, brown and yellow carpet and a 4 door built in closet that juts out into the room, taking up much needed space!

    Well done!

  27. You did a good job getting your space in order. I,too, struggle with keeping my craft/sewing, etc. room neat and tidy. "Too much stuff" is definitely the operative phrase in my case! I have been trying lately not to be too impulsive, especially when I am out looking at thrift stores, etc. You know, buying with a real purpose in mind and not just on a whim.

  28. Love the wall color....much better! So how long do you think it will stay that way ~LOL! I clean my studio and in one swoop of a "creative vibe" it looks like a tornado hit it!!!! Thanx for sharing...really liked the big jars for storage and the bed springs! My castle doors are always open over at the "royal blog" for browsing. Tiff

  38. I had to laugh at the 'before' picture, my craft/ guest room looks eriely simular {minus the paint splattered floor,I have wall to wall carpeting so painting is basement or outside projects} I have created 'trails' to get around the room! :/ Your 'after' has put me to shame, but the room will have to wait just a bit longer til the basement orginizing is done allowing for some relocation :) Thanks for the inspireation!

  43. I love the changes. Your floor before reminds me of mine...I like to think that where the mess is...Genius is working:D

  44. I love the dresser can you tell me what color you used? I am getting ready to do a small china cabinet and have been looking for a good color that will keep up with the changes of decorating that I am always doing. I get tired of looking at the same colors all the time so I switch them out a few times a year or so by changing the curtains and such. I think that color is really nice and would go with just about anything. Hope it is not a costume color that you mixed. Your room looks great !!!
    Best regards
